Asian University (Asian U), formerly Asian University of Science and Technology and founded in 1993, is an international university located in Chonburi, Thailand, about 25 km from Pattaya.
Asian University is located on the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand, about 135 km south east of Bangkok. It is some 500 m above sea level with spectacular views of Jomtien and the sea. The location is rural, and there are no facilities within walking distance. The campus is about 28 km from Pattaya, and less than 20 km inland from Jomtien. Pattaya and Jomtien are seaside resorts, with hundreds of bars and restaurants as well as other facilities.
About 20 km from the university are hyper-markets (Tesco-Lotus, Carrefour and Big C). They sell most needs (food, stationery, personal hygiene, household goods) with in store chemists / drug stores. There are also shopping malls, numerous ATMs, restaurants and mobile-phone shops.There are many websites with comprehensive information about Pattaya and Jomtien.
The University has an English-Only policy, and students are encouraged to communicate as far as possible in English. Studying alongside students from all over the world, where English is the only common language, makes the use of English essential.
Classes are small and taught by experienced qualified teachers, many from overseas. With a low teacher-student ratio, students have plenty of opportunity for individual tutoring and interaction with teaching staff.
Student-centred learning allows students to participate and debate in classes and workshops, and offers the chance to develop public speaking and presentation skills. Building confidence is an asset for whatever future career is chosen.
